{"id":435,"date":"2011-09-20T00:12:11","date_gmt":"2011-09-20T05:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/?p=435"},"modified":"2012-06-24T00:13:07","modified_gmt":"2012-06-24T05:13:07","slug":"a-new-baby-and-what-god-hath-wrought-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/?p=435","title":{"rendered":"A New Baby and What God Hath Wrought"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>9th Haiti Trip &#8211; Vol. I<\/p>\n<p>Bill flew back to Haiti on Aug. 24th to prepare for our friend, Skip Lindsey, who was coming with three more of his children and other friends a week later.\u00a0 Bill also tried to pound on some more doors in PAP, trying to get our truck back.\u00a0 We thought we might have to go buy another one as we <strong>have to <\/strong>haul materials and people so much.\u00a0 We really didn\u2019t want to do that as that money would go a long way toward Yvrose\u2019 shower\/bathroom house and septic system.\u00a0 But Rod of Victory Compassion once again came to our rescue and loaned us one of their trucks for the time our friends were here, Praise the Lord!<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Bill got a call from Sherlie\u2019s sister, Rachelle, on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince.\u00a0 She was in labor and could not afford to go to a PAP hospital.\u00a0 Bill drove to PAP in Yvrose\u2019 car and picked her up to bring her out to HCM\u2019s obstetrical clinic here in Fonds-Parisien.\u00a0 As he was driving she was breathing through contractions and Bill was wondering if he was going to have to deliver the baby on the street!<\/p>\n<p>They made it to the clinic where the midwives pronounced that she still had a long way to<a href=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/?attachment_id=457\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-457\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-457\" title=\"IMG_4473\" src=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_4473-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_4473-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_4473-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> go so Bill brought her out to our house and spent the next few hours coaching her on her breathing and helping her through labor.\u00a0 Finally she was getting closer and Bill took her back to the clinic where she delivered a 4 lb. baby girl!\u00a0 Her name is Amanda Mae, Mae being my middle name.\u00a0 (They couldn\u2019t name her William or Scott since she was a girl. Rachelle told her husband that Bill was Amanda\u2019s \u201cfirst daddy\u201d! Ha!)\u00a0 We are so grateful to God for a new life in Haiti!<\/p>\n<p>I flew to Miami and met the 7 person Lindsey party on Thursday morning, Sept. 1st, and flew into Haiti with them.\u00a0 Bill met us with the girls and Yvrose at the airport. We spent the rest of the day stopping several places, the PAP outdoor market for groceries, another place for mosquito nets, another for frozen chicken, another to change money, driving through the horrendous stop and go traffic with lots of pot holes in the roads of PAP.<\/p>\n<p>That evening, we went up to Yvrose\u2019 to see the children.\u00a0 I did a double take.\u00a0 The last<a href=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/?attachment_id=458\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-458\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-458\" title=\"IMG_5241\" src=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_5241-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_5241-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_5241-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> time I was here, she was still cooking in the \u201ctent\u201d in the dirt and there was one half wall where they were going to set up the kitchen.\u00a0 Now the entire back wall was completed.\u00a0 They had a large 3 propane burner \u201cstove\u201d built.\u00a0 Victory had put a metal roof over the entire area so everything was shaded!
