{"id":765,"date":"2011-01-29T19:00:59","date_gmt":"2011-01-30T01:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/?p=765"},"modified":"2012-06-23T23:49:24","modified_gmt":"2012-06-24T04:49:24","slug":"a-new-home-for-yvroses-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/?p=765","title":{"rendered":"A New Home for Yvrose&#8217;s Family!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>5th Haiti Trip &#8211; Vol. III<\/p>\n<p>Eight days!\u00a0 That\u2019s all it took!\u00a0 Last week after coming and seeing Yvrose\u2019s situation, Rod<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_767\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/?attachment_id=767\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-767\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-767\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-767\" title=\"Rod Baker with Yvrose's family and Bill &amp; I\" src=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2400-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2400-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2400-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-767\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rod Baker with Yvrose&#8217;s family and Bill &amp; I<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Baker of Victory Compassion, which puts up small houses for earthquake victims with an emphasis on widows and orphans, told Bill that if he would get two foundations in, he would put up two of the houses this week!!!\u00a0 The race was on!<\/p>\n<p>Bill hauled water in barrels up the hill numerous times for mixing concrete. He hired some Haitians and along with the children, they all started clearing the lot of rocks and vegetation.\u00a0 Then the excavation began to level the areas needed for the foundations, no small task.\u00a0 Bill designed the foundations with another concrete area between the two small houses so Yvrose would have an area to cook and eat in outside of the houses.<\/p>\n<p>I arrived in Haiti on the 26th\u00a0after an overnight delay in Ft. Lauderdale.\u00a0 They were pouring the second foundation that day.\u00a0 The next day we poured the area between the two.\u00a0 Rod brought out the insulated panels for the first house in the afternoon.\u00a0 The next morning he brought out the panels for the second house and his crew.\u00a0 By the time Bill and I got there, the first house was up!\u00a0 It took another hour or so to apply all the metal trim pieces but it was amazing how fast it went.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_766\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/?attachment_id=766\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-766\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-766\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-766\" title=\"Second house going up\" src=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2319-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2319-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/justmercy.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_2319-1024x767.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-766\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Second house going up<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Watching them put up the second house was an eye-opener.\u00a0 The panels are preassembled with a thin layer of insulation to help keep the metal house from being so hot.\u00a0 The houses are about 15 x 18 feet each and have two rooms.\u00a0 Yvrose was \u201cwalking on air\u201d as she put it.\u00a0 The children were so excited!\u00a0 What a wonderful God we serve!<\/p>\n<p>Saturday night, we had the family over for supper.\u00a0 We then had a time of praise and worship and testimony.\u00a0 The children took turns standing up and saying how thankful they were to God for \u201cMommy and Poppy\u201d (Yvrose and her husband, Pierre-Richard), for \u201cDaddy\u201d Bill and \u201cMam\u201d Janet, and for the new houses God has given them!\u00a0 They sang, recited scripture, and were so precious to hear.<\/p>\n<p>Working with Rod was a blessing.\u00a0 He is a large man with a large heart and loves the children!!!\u00a0 We are so grateful to him and his people for making it possible for Yvrose\u2019s family to have a home!\u00a0 The next thing needed is a well for the family, the school she runs on her land with 150 children, and the community around her.\u00a0 All water has to be hauled up in buckets on people\u2019s heads unless we are coming up in the truck.\u00a0 Every trip we take up there we try to haul containers of water.\u00a0 It is just one of countless communities who have no water source.<\/p>\n<p>We have given Yvrose two Sawyer water filters which they use to filter their drinking water.\u00a0 Many of the school children stop at their home after they leave school to ask for a cup of water and they are always willing to share what they have.\u00a0 But sometimes they run out and have to turn people away until they can haul more water up, a trip of over a mile.<\/p>\n<p>We would like to ask all of you that receive this if you would consider making a contribution to get a well in for Yvrose\u2019 and the community.\u00a0 It is going to cost six thousand dollars.\u00a0 You would literally be helping to fulfill Jesus\u2019 admonition in Matt. 10:42 that \u201cwhoever\u2026\u2026..gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>5th Haiti Trip &#8211;
