The Blessing of Victory Compassion

5th Haiti Trip – Vol. II

This week has been a real joy for Bill in Haiti.  He went down to talk to Rob with Victory Compassion from Tulsa at Love a Child.  Rob is the one who gave us about 1/3 of the rice we needed to take up to the school in Pays-Pourri about 3 months ago.  He gave us another 200 pounds of rice plus some beans for the school this week!  We are grateful.

Pierre Richard, Yvrose, and their family

Victory Compassion is building small houses on Love a Child land with kits sent from the states.  He said that if we would get the foundation in, he would use one of the kits to build Everose a small home.  The next day, Rob went with Bill to visit Everose at her home. BIll had told him her story of taking in 16 children and living in the two small rented rooms. When he saw the situation she and her family are in, he said he would build her TWO structures!!!!  We are so excited!!!

Rob wants to put the structures up this week so Bill will try to arrange to get the site prepared tomorrow for the pads.  To get the foundation in will be much easier and faster than it was for the house we are building for Joilius because Everose’ land is fairly level while Jolius’ lot was pretty steep and had to have a very high stem wall built on one end.

God has been so good in using us as a channel to help pull things together for Everose and her family.  If any of you would like to help with the cost of getting the foundation in, we would be grateful.  Please keep this venture in your prayers as things are always more difficult than they should be in Haiti.

A group of doctors and nurses are coming this week to work at the Mennonite cholera clinic next door for a week.  They will be staying in our home.  We have installed some more of the doors needed in the house with locks so they will have a fairly secure place to stay and leave their things.

Jolius’ foundation

The foundation for Jolius’ house is complete.  We are ready to start on the block walls.

If you have followed the news at all, you know that Haiti is still very unsettled.  Hannah and I are leaving for Haiti on Tuesday, Jan. 25th, for a week.  We will be coming back with Bill on Feb. 1st.  Please keep us in your prayers as we go.
