April, 2011 Update

Bill and Chevo returned to the states from Haiti last Wednesday.  We are so grateful for all the hard work and encouragement Chevo was to us for the two weeks he was there.  Bill never “finishes” in Haiti.  He just has to pick a place to quit and come home.

Tomorrow, Yvrose is flying in for a two week visit.  We had hoped to find some churches or groups for her to visit to raise awareness about Haiti and possibly raise some funds.  We continue to help support her as she seeks to be God’s woman for her family, the children she continues to take in, the schools she tries to keep going, and the community she serves.   If any of you in our area would like to have her come and share the reality of the situation in Haiti and what God is doing in her life, please contact us right away and let us know.

Yvrose’s growing family

Pierre-Richard and Yvrose have recently taken in 5 more children!  An orphanage in PAP was closing and they were teenagers that would have been put out on the street.  That brings the number to 22.   There usually is a little trouble bringing new children into the family, as you can imagine, but somehow she is able to integrate them in and we see a unity and bond there that is amazing!  They are always so grateful to have a home and regularly praise and thank God for what He has given them.

The family has moved into the two small metal buildings recently built for them but even so, it is obvious that they are going to need more room.  We are making plans to build a more permanent home for them.  Please keep that project in your prayers as we begin working toward beginning that building.

We are still waiting on the well drilling people to come and drill the well.  We’re not sure how long it will be as they have run into some red tape.   Their new 6” drilling rig was legally imported into the country but somehow the paper work on the truck it is sitting on was messed up so they cannot legally drive the rig anywhere!  We want a 6” instead of a 4” well as the 6” well is big enough for the equipment needed for both a hand pump and an electric or solar one as that well will be in use constantly!  Please pray that the paper work and legalities will be worked out soon as the well for Yvrose’ family is going to be such a blessing to that community.

We believe that Yvrose is the “real deal” for anyone seeking to help support someone who is actually giving their all to serve the poor and destitute in Haiti.  We ask that you prayerfully consider helping her continue to take care of the children she has taken in and the schools she has going for older children who have never had an education.  She could be living in the U.S. as so many educated Haitians have chosen to do, but has instead chosen to live in Haiti, serving her Lord and the children He loves.

Len Clevenger has been going to churches seeking workers and donations for Meals for Haiti which is happening on April 16th at The Bridge in Joplin.  We need 1000 people to come for two hours that day.  They will be packaging 285,000 meals which will then be sent to Haiti to benefit several missions in the Fonds-Parisien area which are supported by various people in the Joplin area.  JUST MERCY will receive some of that food for our school in the mountains, Yvrose’ children’s home and schools, and for the various people God sends our way that need sustenance.

Bill and Yvrose will be returning to Haiti on April 21st.  We have hired a lawyer and hope that progress is being made toward getting our truck back.
