Work in the Village
The work on Marianna’s house in the village next door is almost finished except the roof. What an amazing transformation. Chevo has worked very hard with the hired Haitians. The walls are completed and the plaster interior is quite a transformation.
Once again on Saturday evening, we provided the groceries and the ladies at the village cooked a meal for everyone. A quote from Bill’s report:
5:49pm
We are over at the village now preparing supper. The little boys are crowding so close to see what I’m doing I can hardly move! The ladies work hard to prepare food for the whole village! I hope God can touch the hearts of these people through this simple act of kindness. Hoping to build not just houses but bridges!
7:14 pm
It’s seven. The children are playing while the rice and beans cook slowly over the coals of the one blazing fire and the moment is magic! It’s been dark for a while and the sounds of all the people interacting with one another, the laughter and singing, all the talking and clapping and games speak of a community we seldom encounter!
Bill met a Spanish Christian couple who had been working at an orphanage in PAP but felt like they could not stay any longer. Bill invited them to the house for a few days while they figured out what they needed to do as they really do want to serve the Lord in Haiti. Bill said it has been a wonderful time of fellowship. Chevo speaks Spanish and has been translating for them with Bill. The couple may stay at the house while Bill comes home this week for a visit. They have volunteered to keep the weekly meal going at the village and helping with many of the things we are doing.
Concerning the destitute family whose “shelter” we showed you in our last update, I wanted to let you know that we tore it down and set up one of the few tents we kept back last spring for just such situations. It is amazing how grateful they are just for a tent!
From Bill:
The cocks are crowing again with the dawning of this new day! I wonder what it will hold? Not that I don’t have a list, but what’s that got to do with it?
There are so many interactions God brings our way that it would take too long to tell about. Thank you all for your continuous prayers. We are so grateful to be able to be in Haiti, seeking to be God’s hands there.
JUST MERCY
