When Bill left Haiti in February, the people of the village of Raket were being eaten up with scabies. He returned quickly in March to treat the outbreak but also learned much more about the village. The people there had to walk an hour round trip to haul their water so JUST MERCY hired some men and started digging a cistern for the village. The equivalent of 10 dump trunkloads of rock were dug and hauled out by hand! The plan is to build a house to collect water off the tin roof for the cistern. A tragedy struck the family of our good friend and helper, Ermithe. Her 5 year old son, Mawoudji, became very sick and died after a few days. JUST MERCY was able to help with the hospital bill and the funeral expenses. It was heartbreaking for all of us.
