Planting Seeds……

The days have been full, and I am so often too tired to think by the end of them. But I feel I must share with you some of what’s been going on lately.

It’s been a few weeks since the team left that went to Janou. Since then, two chairs were finished over in the shop.

A concrete pad was built for the sawmill, the sawmill moved onto it, cleaned up, and oiled.

We worked on a solar deydrator for a young man who is drying mangoes. He is making a business that will employ people and use surplus fruit!. Good for him! Nice young man.

Built a prototype for an artificial reef. It’s a long story about this project. We hope to build 50 to reestablish the fish population in the bay.

(JUST MERCY recently purchased a large plot of ground to grow fresh vegetables and fruit trees as a major source of food for the mission and people of that area.  Fresh water was only about 4 feet down!)

The Garden: Here in a small community toward the middle of the island where there is so much need, this little project is creating so much anticipation and hope for the future.  I believe it is because someone is choosing to involve themselves in their lives.

And I think of the words of Jesus: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” What are the commandments of Jesus anyway?….. To love God with all your mind, heart, soul. and strength. And your neighbor as yourself.

The commandments of Jesus…..I think the story of the Good Samaritan or the parable of the Sheep and the Goats tells us pretty succinctly.

Everyday in all these mission projects, we aspire to live out the commandments of Jesus and teach others……”All that I have commanded you”

And yes, we are planting seeds!!
